What a wonderful cozy neighborhood spot.The menu offers a wide range, from appitizers to deserts. The food is perfectly prepared with intriguing specials.Quiet enough to have a conversation but lively. If busy you have the option to have a drink across the street and they call you when a table is ready.Full dinners are served at the bar.

The atmosphere, food and staff were all a part of creating a wonderful evening. I had a pear martini, chicken BBQ egg rolls, and the rib eye. Everything tasted great. The staff was very welcoming, friendly and professional. They didn't rush our group even though we were the last people left. Definitely a restaurant I'll revisit.

Very pleased with the whole experience. Original dishes, unique combinations, and great flavors. Busy Saturday night but the staff was happy to accommodate us. Good service and intimate atmosphere. Say hello to the chef on your way to the bathroom. It's the only way to get there, and part of the charm.

Always fantastic food and service

Nice, cozy restaurant with good food at comparable prices. I went there with a very grumpy toddler for lunch. They brought us a coloring book, and water without hesitating. They also talked to him when he started to get rowdy. It would also be a good place to go without kids. The patio looks fun.

The service was excellent! The food was delicious and cooked perfectly. A little pricey but competitive. We will defiantly be back to Cooper's on 5th!

Good food. Good serving size for one person. Small not a lot of seating but you can call ahead and reserve a spot.

We had heard good things about this place, so gave it a try. We ordered the special egg roll of the evening- french dip, a house salad and the Bourbon Glazed Junction Burger. The egg roll was the most disappointing. The meat tasted old and the shells had no flavor. They were also over salted, so the overall taste was old meat and salt. I sent the dish back, but for the rest of the meal had to observe our server telling all the other staff about me. (It is a small restaurant and I had a birds eye view of the server's station. ) Very unprofessional. She suggested the Grilled Chicken Philly as an alternative. It was ok. By that time, however, my dining companion was almost done with his meal, so did not make for a pleasant experience. My companion reported that his burger was overcooked. Left wondering about the good reviews we have heard...?! Won't be back.

Cooper's on 5th is a small eatery/pub that does their craft well. We both had burgers, some of the best that we have had. I had the black and bleu burger; it was amazing. My Special Ladyfriend had the cielo burger and she really enjoyed it. The fries were really good and so was the fried zucchini. Pretty good selection of beers as well. Highly recommend! We will be back.

Seriously the best food and drinks in town. I was privileged to be a part of this team for a few years and can confidently say you won't find a better place around for a cozy night out, great drinks, and a meal that's as comforting as Thanksgiving dinner. If you haven't tried it yet check it out asap. I guarantee you'll be ready for your next visit as soon as you leave.

Great cocktails. I had the Philly chicken sandwich with German potato salad. Both were awesome. My date had the sea food pasta bake dish, which was really good as well. Her brussel sprouts were too Al dejte but everything else was nice. Will return.

This place is usually great. Except last time I went in I ordered the Chefs Special. It was a Goulash plate with beef strips and mashed potatoes. When it came out there was no pasta with it. No noodles and I guess goulash doesn’t have to have noodles however I’ve only had goulash with pasta in it. So basically it was tomato sauce with with some beef and a small pile of mashed potatoes. I thought goulash was a pasta dish. The reason I cant give coopers 5 stars is because it was $20+ for the meal and I was still starving after I left. Like I said, this place is usually amazing.

My lady and I come here frequently for a date night, excellent location, wonderful food (the Wednesday De Burgo is a great deal) and have never had a bad experience with the staff either, always excellent, friendly, and helpful.

Great service, great food! Was driving through and highly recommend anyone stopping (even if it's out of the way). The bourbon burger and the chicken sandwich were phenomenal!

The food I had was very good. The daily special egg roll was delicious. Philly beef egg roll. I also had the flat bread special. A nicely sweet apple, sausage, onion, sweet peppers and an excellent tomato sauce. My wife and step-mother both had the Made-right on Texas toast. Apparently it was very tasty as there was little left over. I very much enjoyed the coffee! The young lady who served us was very pleasant and attentive. By the time we left shortly after 12 the tables were nearly filled so reservations are probably a good idea.

Food and service were amazing! We had the ribs, mac and cheese and meatloaf! For desert, we had the bread pudding. At this point, I need help getting up and walking to the car! Great food and awesome service! Pur waitress was so funny and friendly as well. The interior is also really nice! If anyone is looking for a place to eat and hangout, in a nice quiet place... COME HERE!

My fiancé and I love Cooper's. Their food is great however their customer service is terrible. We ordered some food to go and when my fiancé went to pick it up the price was way more than listed on their website. He kindly told the host that the price reflected on the website is what we should have to pay and the host was completely rude to him and just told him that the prices have increased and they haven't fixed their website therefore there was nothing "she could do". That's terrible customer service, there is ALWAYS something you can do.

Nice little stop for lunch. The salad they prepared was very good. Server was awesome and very attentive. I will have to have a sandwich when I swing through again.

This is the first time we had been here and we will definitely be back. I can see why it has made "10 must try places in Des Moines" lists. The service was fast and extra friendly, the food was amazing, the atmosphere was excellent, and the prices can't be beat.

Steak deburgo was amazing! !! Every single bite of everything on the plate was so flavorful and amazing! The only slight downside is how loud it gets because of the size. But it's worth dealing with.

Although we just slipped in for a drink, it was an ideal spot for a first date. Quiet and relaxed atmosphere with a very gracious and attentive staff. Even the water glass was continuously filled. The placed filled up quickly with patrons for the dinner rush so I would recommend reservations. I think everyone will enjoy the environment for a romantic dinner or a dinner with family.

Absolutely a place worth stopping over, the food is great and well prepared, the rates are convenient and it is regularly well organized in here. Keep it up.

Nice little restaurant in downtown Des Moines Iowa. I ordered the cajun meatloaf thought I would try something different. I will say the taste was flavorful ( if that's a word) the portions was huge nestled on mashed potatoes scrumptious! NOW the after effects were totally opposite I was on the toilet the next morning rocking back and forth....but definitely well worth it. I definitely recommend this place.
